Why You are Struggling to Lose Weight

Why You are Struggling to Lose Weight

A large part of the US population is either overweight or obese. At least half of the adults are trying to eat healthy and get on some kind of diet nowadays, to lose weight. But unfortunately, less than a few percent are successful long term. Why are so many people failing with losing weight and keeping it off permanently? What are we doing wrong?

Apparently, the majority of people are making the same mistakes when they are trying to lose weight. And I was one of these people till I have learned everything I have learned throughout the years.

I always considered myself to be a strong-willed person, which I am. But I have relied too much on my will power trying to shed off extra pounds. The problem with will power is that it’s like a battery, and it depletes its energy at some point in time.

When I was dieting, I would observe all of the rules of my diet and restrictions for 4 days and then would slip up for a day or two. Then I would start dieting again, would be compliant for another 5 days, and would slip up again. Then I would tell myself: If I ate “crap” today, I could eat “crap” for a few more days since the weekend is coming:) And I would continue this yo-yo till I would quit this diet.

So, will power on its own doesn’t work long term. And a lot of people rely on will power when they are trying to lose weight. They rely on it in their diets as well as with exercising. And it’s the same story with exercising, the same yo-yo game.

Another major problem that we are dealing with when we are trying to lose weight is bread, pastries and other sweets. Most of the overweight population is thinking that they just love and enjoy sugars and flour products. What they don’t realize is that they are addicted to it. It is scientifically proven that processed refined and purified powdered sugar and flour has the same effect on the brain as drugs.

There is an exception to this addiction rule. Not everyone has equal effects for addictive substances. You can take two people that are drinking alcohol with everything being the same, one will become alcoholic and another one will not. Another example would be: when two people come out of the surgery, with everything being the same, and take consistently strong addictive painkillers for 3 weeks, one will become addicted and another one will not. Most of us have probably seen both cases.

But usually overweight or obese people fall into the category of people with “addictive brains”. So processed sugars and flours should not be taken lightly if you are a person who is trying to lose weight.

I know how hard and frustrating it can be when you are trying to lose weight for years, even decades. And if you are one of these people – I can feel your pain. I was finally able to win this battle for good.:) And with everything I know now I am helping others to do the same.
