Is it possible to have a better work-life balance?

Nowadays, more and more people work from home, which can be a disaster, but it can also be a blessing.

I was one of those people who used to hardly see my kids due to my previous jobs. And once I started working from home, I was so blessed to be near them at all times. But being together 24/7 can also turn into somewhat of a catastrophe. 🙂 You don’t want your kids to bother you while you are in the middle of a call or a session. So, you must establish ground rules for when you can be distracted and under which circumstances. It’s important to discuss all the details, such as when and how you can be distracted, as kids can get very creative to get your attention.:)

Additionally, when you are working from home the workday never seems to end, as you feel like you need to do “just a little bit more” before you call it a day. So, it is extremely important to plan the beginning of your workday as well as the end of your day. Otherwise, you might end up working 24/7. (Which I have done before 🙂 ) And even if you are the most energetic person, sooner or later you probably will burn out. And your family will not appreciate the fact of you working all the time as well.

Another important factor for achieving work-life balance is finding time to exercise. I have written a lot about the benefits of exercising and will not be discussing this topic at this moment.

Remember, that you don’t have to join the gym or own expensive exercise equipment to start exercising. All you need is to want it. (If you need some ideas on how to start, comment below or DM me)

Don’t wait to be motivated to start exercising as this time might never come. Motivation can come in 20 minutes into your exercising. And you can pair up working out with an additional benefit, such as listening to an audiobook, learning something new, or watching your favorite show. Whatever will do the trick for you. But this will give you an additional reason to exercise regularly.

Last, but definitely not least, an aspect I want to talk about is creating a structure for your workday and workweek. Without the structure, you can never be as productive as having one in place. And when you are not productive, you don’t achieve as much and feel like you need to work more.

Without plan and structure, people might not know what their main priorities are and the most efficient ways to achieve results. Additionally, you don’t feel a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. Create a plan, prioritize your tasks, schedule them, and follow through. Do what you must, what you specialize in; and delegate everything else whenever possible. You need to invest your time and energy into your specialty.

There is so much more you can do to create a work-life balance. But if you implement just these few items I have discussed above, your quality of life will drastically improve.

Till next time,
