Many women I talked to are staying away from the idea of weight lifting because they think they will “get bulky”. This is a big concern for a lot of people. Are you one of the women who are thinking this way?
If you are – I totally understand where you’re coming from. I used to think the same way. I don’t want to look bulky either! But after learning about weight lifting my perspective totally changed.
First of all, you are not going to just blow up and become a “beefcake”. A lot of people are trying to get bulky and it’s not that easy. 🙂 Whatever your goal is with weight lifting, you can set it and go after it. I personally wanted to get my arms toned a bit and get rid of the flabby area on my arms. And I absolutely love what I was able to achieve relatively quickly. Weight lifting can make your body into any shape you want. (Well, almost any 🙂 )
Second of all, weight lifting is boosting your metabolism. What it means is the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn while you sleep. I am sure no one is going to argue that it’s a pretty sweet deal :)
Additionally, weight lifting is strengthening your bones, which is very important for us when we get older, because we want to avoid osteoporosis. And it also aligns your posture – if you are, of course, doing proper exercises.
Also, you can do cardio exercises with weights as well. And you are getting the double benefit.
And there are so many more benefits to strength training. So, if “I don’t want to get bulky” was your limiting belief, I would suggest trying out some weight training exercises.
And you don’t even have to get a membership to a fitness club. I am doing my exercises at home. And no, I don’t have a gym at home. (Maybe one day 🙂 ) All I have is a small set of dumbbells.
So I definitely recommend starting some kind of strength training, as there are numerous benefits to that.
Love and Take Care of Yourself! Because You are Absolutely Worth It!
Have a Fabulous Day!!!
